Steel Indian Tulwar sword (no scabbard) Circa. 1887. Overall length 36. 1/4in, curved blade length approx. 31. 1/4in. Single edged. double fullered to a shiny steel grey patina with darker "old" rust discolouration/ pitting in various places to each side. Towards the rocasso on one side there is crudely scratched/ chisseled into the blade "S. L. K. 87" (presumably the initials of a British soldier and the date of capture of his prize?). The steel hilt is also to a shiny silver steel colour with darker "old" rust discolouration/ pitting in various places. This steel hilt complete and in 3x parts with the integral grip and cross-guard section surmounted with the typical disc type pommel. A steel single bar knuckle appears to be a later but contemporary addition. Whole in reasonable condition commensurate with age/ use.
