Scarce Antique Quiver Of Arrows (From Borneo)

£120.00

Description

A most unusual antique quiver of eleven arrows believed to eminate from Borneo.  Overall quiver length 35.1/4ins, average arrow length 30.1/2ns.  The eleven arrows are of wooden two-part construction, with the pointed arrow-head of wood scored around and this in turn set into a shaft with a bound connection.  Interesting to not there is no provision to insert feather flights, rathher the shaft is bound to the rear with cotton wool type flights to stabilise the arrow on it's flight towards it's intended target.  The quiver is constructed from a hollow thin walled plant/ tree stem such as bamboo.  Over the ouside of this is a single large leaf bound into position with platted reed type material, with a similarly constructed slip on lid.  A MOST unusual object for the collector of ethnic weapons.  In very good condition commensurate with age.
