Stolen at Penkridge Militaria Fair 16/10/2022 – Staffordshire Police Crime Reference Number:   2122139191.

 
Scarce WW1 Presentation, British officers marching compass, in leather case.  The compass age worn and with a little bit of age grime (the whole would probably benefit from a clean).  The glass cracked (would benefit from replacement), but the compass appears to be in good working order and retains some of its original black enamel finish. Around the outer surface "PRESENTED TO CAPT. W. A. SOUTER FROM HIS BROTHER OFFICERS.  CLIFFORD'S FORT  FEGRUARY 1918".  The leather carrying case is complete, but worn and in need of a feed with leather preservative. Some of the stitching is coming apart and would benefit from expert attention.intact and in good order. The outer flap stamped with the owners initials in black "W. A. S".  In reasonable overall condition commensurate with age.
