An extremely rare Barsinghausen J.M.(Jungmädelbund) pennant/ flag. As in the HJ (Hitler Youth), separate sections of the BDM existed, according to the age of participants. Girls between 10 and 14 were members of the Young Girl’s League (Jungmädelbund, JM).

Barsinghausen is a town in the district of Hanover in Lower Saxony in Germany. Th town is situated at the Deister chain of hills about 20 km to the west of Hanover. Barsinghausen belongs to the historic landscape Calenberg Land and first mentioned in 1193.

Our example is two-sided is approx. 36 in long by approx. 19 in wide at the widest part. The front section with an embroidered/ stitched H.J. symbol to the front black side 6.1/2 in wide x approx 11 in tall. Barsinghausen in white stitching approx. 11.1/2 in x approx. 2.1/2 in centrally to the obverse. The rear of the panel is of yellow material with “RING III / 2 / 276” in black stitched lettering approx. 9.1/2 in wide x 1 in high, then a gree pine tree clearing scene with stone stepped stage scene and to the left “J. M.” in black stitched lettering approx. 3 in wide x 1 in high The two flag panels with several rows of stitching to the edge holding them together.

The pennant/ flag is without moth or tears, but grubby and with slight wear to the stitching high spots in places. The two small suspension eyeletsare now absent.

A VERY scarce item in good overall condition commensurate with age.
