Description
.65 bore 1844 Pat. Enfield percussion native issue smooth-bore service carbine. Overall length 42.1/2in., barrel 26.1/2in., Fullstocked with regulation brass mounts, barrel swivels now absent and replaced with a carbine swivel. Lock plate with crown VR cipher and “ENFIELD 1868”. The barrel, lock-plate, barrel retaining bands, stirrup rammer and carbine swivel etc to a shiny steel grey/ brown finish with little in the way of pitting and “628” stamped to the fore-end side of the rear open sight. The stock with a minor hairline crack to the fore-end of the lock. The beautiful wooden stock with a brass ring affixed stamped “82” as it the wooden stock itself and there are various inspection marks throughout.
Very good overall condition commensurate with age.
